Kia brings its first all-electric sedan to Australia, offering up to 612 km of range

South Korean carmaker Kia has officially introduced the EV4 electric sedan to the Australian market, marking the brand’s first dedicated electric passenger car in this body style. The new model takes its place alongside Kia’s existing EV range, which includes the EV3, EV5, EV6 and EV9.

The EV4 is built on the Hyundai-Kia E-GMP platform and initially will be offered here in three trims- Air, Earth and GT-Line- all with front-wheel-drive and powered by a single 150 kW electric motor.

Pricing for the EV4 in Australia starts from $49,990 before on-road costs for the base Air model, with the Earth and GT-Line long-range versions commanding higher prices.

The base Air trim uses a 58.3 kWh battery delivering around 456 km of WLTP-rated range, while the Earth and GT-Line models step up to an 81.4 kWh battery pack that pushes the estimated driving range to about 612 km under WLTP testing, giving the EV4 its longest range yet among Kia’s electric vehicles.

Measuring roughly 4.73 m long with a 2.82 m wheelbase, the EV4’s aerodynamic sedan form helps it achieve efficiency gains over SUV counterparts.

Charging capability is similar across the range, with the larger battery capable of reaching around 80 % state of charge within about 30 minutes on suitable DC fast chargers.

Kia Australia has confirmed the EV4 will begin arriving in showrooms imminently, expanding the brand’s electric lineup with a competitively priced sedan aimed at buyers looking for long range and efficiency in a non-SUV format.
