Ferrari Elettrica: Their First-Ever EV Takes Shape Ahead of 2026 Launch

Ferrari has taken a major step into the electric era, revealing the production-ready chassis of its first electric vehicle during its latest Capital Markets Day.

Currently referred to as the Ferrari Elettrica - Italian for electric - this groundbreaking model is set for a full reveal between March and June 2026, with customer deliveries expected to begin later that year.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the skin, the Elettrica will feature dual electric motors producing a combined output of over 736 kW, enabling blistering acceleration from 0–100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h.

Power will come from a Ferrari-developed 122 kWh battery pack, offering a range of more than 530 km on a single charge (testing protocol undisclosed). Operating on an 880V architecture, the system supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW.

The battery has been fully integrated into the chassis, lowering the centre of gravity by 80 mm compared with an equivalent combustion model, which should significantly enhance handling.

Chassis and Design

While Ferrari is keeping the final body design under wraps for now, the chassis provides some clues about the car’s proportions and engineering.

The Elettrica will weigh approximately 2300 kg with a 47:53 front-to-rear weight distribution and a 2960 mm wheelbase. Ferrari describes the setup as “extremely short,” taking inspiration from its iconic mid- and rear-engine berlinetta models.

A separate rear subframe, a first for Ferrari, has been designed to enhance structural rigidity while reducing cabin noise and vibration, a critical factor for an EV where drivetrain sound is minimal.

Suspension and Tyres

The Elettrica will share Ferrari’s advanced 48V active suspension system with the Purosangue and upcoming F80. This setup continuously adjusts the car’s pitch and roll during acceleration, braking, and cornering to deliver signature Ferrari handling dynamics.

Buyers will have three tyre options, each developed to maintain Ferrari’s hallmark performance while offering low rolling resistance:

  • A dry-weather performance tyre
  • A winter-specific tyre
  • A run-flat version for added convenience

Sound and Cabin Experience

Ferrari is taking an unconventional approach to EV sound. Instead of digitally recreating combustion engine noises, the Elettrica will generate a unique, organic sound derived from real mechanical vibrations.

A high-precision sensor mounted on the rear axle detects vibrations from the metal structure, which are then amplified and projected into the surroundings, similar to how an electric guitar produces sound.

To refine the auditory experience further, the car features an active noise-cancellation system that filters out unpleasant high-frequency “current harmonics” typically associated with electric motors.

What’s Next

While Ferrari has yet to reveal the exterior or interior design, early prototypes suggest a 2+2 grand tourer style with subtle SUV-like proportions reminiscent of the Purosangue.

Ferrari plans to unveil the interior in early 2026, ahead of the official global reveal between March and April.

The Elettrica marks a defining moment for Ferrari, a bold leap into electrification that aims to deliver all the emotion, craftsmanship, and performance synonymous with the Prancing Horse, without compromise.
