Denza Unveils Its First Full EV for Australia — D9 People Mover Pricing and Specs Revealed

Denza, the premium electric-vehicle brand owned by BYD, has officially confirmed that its all-electric D9 people mover is now available for buyers in Australia. This marks the brand’s first fully battery-electric model offered locally, following the earlier introduction of its hybrid-powered B5 and B8 SUVs.

The seven-seat D9 is positioned as a luxury family vehicle with a spacious interior, advanced tech, and competitive performance figures. Two drivetrain options are on offer: a front-wheel-drive (FWD) version starts from $85,990 plus on-road costs, while the more powerful all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant begins at $95,990 before on-roads.

Underneath, the D9 is built on BYD’s modern e-Platform 3.0 and uses a 103.3 kWh Blade battery pack. The FWD model puts out 230 kW of power and 360 Nm of torque, while the AWD dual-motor setup bumps those figures to 275 kW and 470 Nm. Denza quotes a WLTP-rated range of up to 520 km for the FWD and around 480 km for the AWD, and both versions support fast charging up to 200 kW as well as vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.

Inside, the D9’s cabin features a mix of comfort and tech-forward equipment, including a large central touchscreen, digital driver display, head-up display, and premium seating. The second row includes captain’s chairs with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Cargo space is versatile, offering around 410 L with all seats up and expanding significantly with the rear rows folded.

On the safety front, Denza has equipped the D9 with a suite of driver-assist systems such as autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and more.

The launch of the D9 places Denza in direct competition with other large EV people movers and premium family vehicles in Australia, giving buyers a fully electric option below some rival models that are priced higher.
